David Wright and Moustaches

Quickie post today...much to do! LadyMet is throwing a baby shower for her niece/nephew to-be this weekend (doesn't it annoy you when expectant parents refuse to find out the gender? Makes everyone else's life more difficult. How selfish. Like it's all about them.) Anyway, we came across a very interesting blog today and wanted your opinion. Check out The Wright Stache, where a group of Mets fans have banded together to encourage David Wright to grow a moustache; the theory being that "naked lips don't win championships". Now, we want a championship as much as anyone, but to clutter up that perfect face with hair? Not too sure about this. He does look good with stubble, we concede this, but a Keith Hernandez-esque stache? Hmmm.

Tell us what you think. We have installed another poll (we do so love our polls!) and give The Wright Stache a visit.

Also, don't forget to cheer on Team USA on Sunday! Pray that David's toe issues are better. Maybe Miss Molly was able to fly out to LA and kiss DW's feet, make them all better.

Kisses!

Keith's Quotes of the day

If you look to your right, you will notice a new feature here at the Ladies' home. Keith's quotes feature a new quote every day from one of the original gangstas, and current Met announcer par excellent Keith Hernandez. The Ladies had discovered a Facebook page devoted solely to Keith's brain farts, and we laughed for days reading it. Thanks to Mike over at Global Mets for providing us lazy-ass bloggers with a funny, entertaining feature that we did not have to work for.

Also note the Ladies have finally figured out how to put a feed on the sidebar, so feel free to subscribe. Actually, please do, as it will validate the many hours of agonizing brain work the Ladies put in trying to understand feeds - the Ladies are low-tech kind of girls!

More later on today's spring training events, and a critique of all the press David Wright's been doing lately (you can just picture Jay Horowitz behind him with a whip). Can the media possibly kiss his butt any more? jeez...

Kisses!

Shop Till You Drop...

The Ladies' favorite activity, after cheering for the Mets, of course. We have found a few Mets-centric items out there for sale from some of our favorite bloggers, and wanted to pass them along to you. Get out your wallets, gangstas!

The lovely and talented Danielle at The Wright Stuff has a whole host of items, check it out.. Note the "Ladies On The Field" shirt. We're honored that we've been immortalized in cotton!

Caryn over at Metsgrrl has Lady G's favorite shirt, a John Maine special. Take a look, and rock on, dude.

Babes Love Baseball has some interesting shirts, for ladies only! Hate to think of any MLBer wearing these!

For the men, we have the Faith and Fear in Flushing special. LadyMet gave this one to her sweetie for Christmas, and he is still thanking her...

Last but certainly not least we have garykeithandron.com. Not only do they have shirts that celebrate the guys who make up the best booth in baseball (ours!), all the proceeds go to Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling's charities.

If you know of any more interesting items out there, let us know and we'd be happy to post them. Nothing makes the Ladies happier than to find ways to spend money.

Kisses!

A January Conversation Between Gary, Keith and Ron

The phone rings, Keith picks it up...

Keith: What??
Gary: Hey Keith, it's me and Ronnie. Just wanted to check in with you, it's been a long off-season.
Keith: Ok, so...what? Let's make it quick, I was napping.
Ronnie: What do you think of the team for this year?
Keith: I don't know, they need another bat. Wish I were still playing.
Gary: You think they'll finally win the division this year?
Keith: No. They need someone like me in the batting order (licks his Tootsie pop)
Gary: But Keith, they scored as many runs as the Phillies last year, and the same line-up is coming back. Don't you think it was the bullpen that blew the season? That's been fixed.
Keith: Yeah, whatever. Hey, I had the greatest steak last night.
Ronnie: Keith, stay with us here. What do you think about the rotation? I have concerns.
Keith: About what? They just need someone up there to throw the ball, we all know it's offense that wins games. Like when I was playing...
Ronnie: cuts him off.. Yeah, thanks Keith, whatever. Well, Omar actually asked me if I could still pitch. Apparently they can't find a #4 starter. Not a good sign, right, Gary?
Gary: moans in despair... He asked YOU?? You retired years ago! This is not good, he must not have any confidence in what they've got. Oh man, I gotta tell Howie, we're doomed...
Keith: Don't jump off the bridge yet, Gar. Season hasn't started yet, there's still time. Hey, you think Shea's chef Theresa is coming over to Citifield? She always makes me the greatest ribs.
Gary: crying... I want to win a division! Why can't we just win? I'm tired of announcing collapses!
Ronnie: It's OK, Gary. Hey, when all else fails, we still have each other, right?
Gary: What do you mean? You worked the post-season for FOX last year!!! Traitor!!!!
Keith: You worked for FOX, Ronnie? I didn't know that...Hey, I'm only doing 80 games this year! Awesome! Lots of time off to nap...
Ronnie: sighs...Jeez...it's gonna be a long season.

Just kidding, guys, you know we love you...

26 days till pitchers and catchers...

Tis The Season to Help The Less Fortunate...

So Lady G and I were expressing our consternation over Fred Wilpon's change in financial fortunes. How painful it will be to give up the private jet that ferries forgotten equipment to our boys when they're on road trips...how difficult to have to watch Luis Castillo once again pretend to be a big-league second baseman when you're paying him all the money you have left in the world. The Ladies are nothing if not civic-minded, especially this time of year. So in order to fulfill our charitable quota for the year, we will be holding a Save the Wilpons fundraiser. Some of the items up for bid include:

Front row seats to the Jose Reyes-Jimmy Rollins steel cage grudge match

Naming rights to Carlos Beltran's mole (an idea stolen shamelessly from Toasty Joe)

An evening with your favorite third baseman, at his home, watching his fish swim (this one's mine)

The right to cook fried okra for John Maine (this one's Lady G's)

A ride on the new center field apple at Citifield after a Delgado HR (hopefully, you will not be waiting out there all season long, it gets cold on Flushing Bay)

A double date with Daniel (don't call me Dan) Murphy and his ex, Nick Evans

A Keith Hernandez mustache

John Maine's bone spur

A pair of Jerry Manuel's glasses

The right to carry the pink Sleeping Beauty backpack filled with candy to the bullpen all season (they need someone to do it, Joe Smith has been traded)

Please keep in mind your charitable contributions will help keep the Wilpons solvent and able to pay the $150 million dollar payroll for next year. Otherwise, the Mets will be fielding the over-50 men's softball team from Rusty's Tavern, and we don't want that.
(Need I say this is not an actual auction, and please don't send any money? I didn't think so)
